Boracay Festivals & Events

Boracay is an island in Philippines enjoying a tropical climate. Surrounded by the blue waves of the Sibuyan Sea and covered with white sands, this island is the most popular tourist destination of Philippines. Boracay Festival and Events all over the year also attract a lot of people to this island. The Festival and events of Boracay, Philippines can be broadly divided according to the time of the year during which they are held.

Festival and Events in January:

Ati-Atihan Festival usually takes place in the third week of January and continues up to almost at the end of the month. The festival takes place in the three place, one after the other-the Ati-Atihan Festival along Boracay’s White Beach, the wordl famous Ati-Atihan Festival in Kalibo and the Tribal Ati-Atihan Festival in Ibajay. The celebration mainly includes a pageant honoring the Santo Nino. Participants usually darken their skins with charcoal and dress up in colorful warriot costumes.

The Boracay International Funboard Cup also takes place in January but sometimes continues up to February. This Funboard Cup is a windsurfing competition and is open to both local and foreign windsurfers. It is a very popular events in Boracay attracting a great deal of media attention.

Festivals and Events in March, April and May:

March, April and May are the summer months of Boracay. The northeast monsoon or the “Amihan” produces very strong winds. Beach activities reach its peak and most festivals and event center around the warm beach during this time.
The Boracay Dive Olympics, the Sand Lantern Contest, the Boracay Invitational Golf Tournament, Boracay Beach Soccer Cup, Triathlon, Boracay Food Festival and the Beach Reggae Festival are some of them to name.

Festival and Events in June, July, and September:

June and July are basically off-season months in Boracay. The island remains relatively quiet and peaceful and the Boracay rates are at their cheapest during this time.

The Caddie Shack Golf Tournament in the second week of September is the only notable event during this time.

Festival and Events in October, November and December:

October marks the beginning of the peak season and the start of Boracay festivals and events that continues up to the summer months. The cool tropical climate is at its best during this time and especially during the Christmas time, the crowd soars high. The Boracay International Beach Festival, Village Fiesta in Balabag and the Chairman’s Golf Cup are of the Boracay Festival and events during this time.
