One of the most pleasurable experiences in reading a book is finding in its pages your own thoughts put so eloquently. In Trick Mirror, Jia Tolentino, does it so beautifully that it didn’t matter when at some points of the book she also challenges some of the things you believe in.
At first, we expected the essays to be related but a heads-up they’re not so make sure to leave space in between to gather your thoughts and prepare yourself for a different discourse in every chapter.
The first essay, The I in internet, is excellent from start to finish but look out for her interesting takes on other topics relating to feminism, modern society and pop culture as well. Also, she’s Filipina. We only found out about it while reading the book and naturally, it made us proud.
