The Last Lesson of Mrs de Souza by Cyril Wong

While it garnered mixed reviews, we still chose to feature this book in honor of World Teacher’s Day on October 5. The Last Lesson of Mrs de Souza will simultaneously make you hate, if you wanted more from her, and sympathize, knowing how teachers are sometimes limited by society, with our main character. The book can be a bore for some but if you’re patient enough and understand that it’s written in a way that is just stating facts through fiction then you will appreciate the attempt at sometimes no longer subtle subversiveness.
