Summer Special 2023: San Sebastián
San Sebastián, a town that is one hour away from Barcelona by plane, is one of our favorite places in the world. In this summer special, we will revisit the place but focus on the beaches.
The La Concha and Ondaretta beaches are almost never empty whatever the season is. It’s an iconic tourist spot after all. There are more people during the warmer seasons, as expected, but there’s no stopping people from spreading out their blankets on the sand even during winter. The entire coast is filled with many things to see and do so one should take the time strolling along. Morning walks are our preference but any time of the day is a good time. You’re on vacation after all.
During this visit, we spent most of our time at Gros. We did our usual tour of the pintxos places in Old Town but it was also in Gros where we chose to eat most of our meals in between staying glued to our spot at Zurriola Beach. Bar Desy, which serves the best burger in the world in our opinion, and Bodega Donostiarra are our go to places. The beach crowd here is more locals than tourists. They say, and we have to agree, generally younger too.
We did the Monte Urgull Hike which wasn’t as easy as we hoped it would be but the reward of breathtaking views of the beaches was worth all the effort.
