Postcards from Hump Ridge Track in New Zealand
The photos here are taken from the Hump Ridge in New Zealand. It is a sub alpine slash rugged coastline and it takes about three days to hike all of the 61 kms area of southern Fiordland. You get to stay in serviced backcountry huts in the evenings. The summit winds around limestone tors and those tarns below. One of the photos is of the Kea, an endangered native NZ alpine parrot known for their curiosity and antics. They are also very clever and sometimes very naughty as they are also known to swoop down and steal hiker’s belongings.
