Postcards from Bangkok, Thailand

We mostly feature European countries in this section so for a change we are writing about a Southeast Asian country this week. Bangkok is mostly about shopping and food but they actually have beautiful parks too.

Angie Zafra shared with us some photos from one of her morning walks at Benjakitti Park, which was fortunately just right around the corner from her hotel. It’s a big forest park with something for everybody: bicycle lanes, oval around a mini lake, grassy fields, elevated pathways, and walkways around a marsh. Angie’s work gives her the opportunity to do something about the environment so we’re sharing more of her thoughts about green spaces – “Green spaces are the most important source of eco-services in urban areas. They help clean the air, act as catchment areas, promote biodiversity, and cool down cities. We desperately need more of these in Philippine urban areas. Nature-based solutions to climate change are often the most effective and cost-efficient interventions out there.”
