Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro

We made sure to read right to the end of Klara and the Sun even if we had to pause several times at the first half of it before finally diving in uninterrupted halfway through until the last page. Just like Haruki Murakami, Ishiguro has always been a mostly difficult read for us but it always has its rewards. There are many possible interpretations to this book and some of them have already been denied by Ishiguro himself such as those who say that the Sun was written to represent God but he was also quick to say that he cannot take it away from the readers to make their own conclusions. For us, it was mostly sadness that we felt immediately afterwards but after a while, we also remembered the hopeful bits that were just as impactful and chose to cling to those. Let Klara, an unlikely candidate to do so since she is a robot, take you deeper to the many struggles of human emotions and find out on your own what to take away after the journey.
