Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner

For our last Bookends feature of 2021, we are writing about the heart wrenchingly beautiful Crying in H Mart. In this moving memoir written by Michelle Zauner, we are reminded of the hard realities of holding on to your culture in a foreign land and how even more challenging that can be when you lose the person that ties you to that culture. In its pages, you will find family, grief and food so closely linked to one another so much so that you will laugh, cry and crave for some of your favorite foods as you’re reading. It’s honest and might make those who’ve had similar experiences feel raw again but that’s the best part of it, it reminds you that you are not alone.
