Camp Sabros Offers More Than Just Cool Weather
Digos City is only about over an hour away from Davao City but to get to Camp Sabros, you have to traverse Kaptagan Road which requires a certain level of driving skills. It’s an uphill battle all the way to the camp which is expected as it’s already part of the foot of Mt. Apo.
Once you get to your cottage, we stayed at the biggest unit which is the Upper White House, the view is more than enough to relax your weary soul after the somewhat arduous travel.
The cottage is clean and spacious. It’s perfect for big families of up to 16. The second floor attic is our favorite part but the balcony area on the first floor is a close second. The staff are amazingly helpful. What they maybe lack in formal training that you can get from five star accommodations, they make up for good old province brand of sincere service.
It’s a camp that’s open to the public and the cottages are situated near the camp site so once you step out of your cottage, it gets really busy and noisy. This combination of quiet and cold during the overnight hours and the chaos the whole day is the kind that works when you have teenagers who doesn’t like the full on retreat feeling. In fact, one of the highlights for them was doing the zipline.
We also quite enjoyed the food at The Tavern restaurant. We made sure to eat early breakfast so we can enjoy the glorious view of Mt. Apo exclusively since camp opens a little later for the day trip guests.
They are still building more cottages and drawing up more activities so those of you who are coming later might be up for a different, even better experience.
