Ember: Another Josh Boutwood Restaurant
Chef Josh Boutwood seems to be working nonstop since moving his young family to Boracay in 2010 where he opened his first restaurant. Since then, he has opened more dining places including Ember. We tried out some basic and probably the simplest items on the menu to see what the experience will be like and how different it will be from the one we had at Test Kitchen. Our verdict is that there were certainly more similarities than differences. The location is definitely busier than in One Rockwell but we still felt the elegant meets casual theme from the food to the service. The server unfortunately forgot to inform us earlier that our wine of choice wasn’t available so we eventually decided not to get a bottle as we were already more than halfway through our meal. We’re guessing that we might have had an even better experience and stayed longer, probably ordered more, if we had drinks to enjoy with our meal.
