Dr. Wine Manila: A Cure Like No Other
We have always been very curious about this always packed bar which took the place of one of our formerly favorite when it was still around Thai restaurants, Som’s, along Algiers street in Poblacion. It took us four years and a pandemic to finally get around to booking a table and discovering for ourselves what the fuss is about. We wanted to go somewhere safe for our rare monthly dine-in expeditions in support of the F&B industry and since we felt like Dr. Wine wasn’t as crowded as pre-pandemic because of the restrictions then now would be the best time to check it out.
As in most of the places in the neighborhood, the first thing that was immediately noticeable is the character of the place. It’s cozy and quirky so two thumbs up right away. Thomas (we hope we spelled his name correctly) was amazing at the front of the house. He was always ready to give complete information and spot on recommendations. He even cautioned us when we wanted to order more than what he thinks we can consume. He said that it’s better to order more if we feel like indulging for more or to come back for another visit. We found that to be very refreshing on top of being sincere.
Here’s a photo of what our party of two ate and the bottle of wine that we paired it with.
