Tokyo Side Trip: Enoshima

Tokyo Side Trip: Enoshima

One cold winter day, I decided to venture off into the island of Enoshima for a day trip. It is a crazy idea but I really wanted to get out of the city that day.

I started off my day by taking a leisurely walk along Shonan Beach. It was freezing cold but I was so amazed by the passion shown by the many surfers who braved the cold to catch some waves that I ended up sitting in one of the steps of the cemented stairs along the coast watching them doing their thing for over an hour.

Once it became unbearable for me, I moved on inside the Aquarium where I had a grand time being amazed by creatures I have never seen before. I also had fun observing the giant sea turtles and was clapping like a kid for the dolphins during the show.

After the aquarium, I then walked to the foot of Enoshima Shrine and feeling lazy decided to take the escalator to take me to the Samuel Cocking Garden. With my legs shaking, I also conquered my fear of heights and was rewarded a very beautiful view that can only be seen from the Sea Candle.

Soon it was time to take a trek back down and head to the train station. Before going back to Tokyo, I had some fried shrimps at Aloha Table to end a packed but relaxing day.
