One Fine Summer Day in Furano
It was raining leading to the day of our visit so we were expecting a dreary day trip to Furano even with the expected burst of colors but all throughout still hoping to be granted a perfect summer day which fortunately did happen. We joined a tour group of all Japanese with no English translation whatsoever and so we missed all the jokes and tidbits during the bus ride and yet that did not rob us of having a wonderful time walking thousands of steps to truly experience the magnitude of the beauty of the lavender fields.
It was truly breathtaking even if you’re sharing every moment with dozens of other tourists. In between visiting lavender farms, we sampled some of Hokkaido’s favorite produce like corn and melon as well as traditional Japanese snacks including Taiyaki. We also made stops at the Blue Pond and some wineries which reminded us that there are other things to see and more reasons to perhaps stay longer the next time we get a chance to visit again.
