Patong Beach: Heart of Phuket's Nightlife
Since the launch of a local budget airline's direct flight to Phuket, more and more people are now looking forward to visiting this beach paradise. We were not sure whether to proceed with this feature since martial law was declared shortly after our visit. After being assured by posts and actual accounts of trips to Thailand that went smoothly despite the ongoing political turmoil we decided to go ahead with writing about our trip.
There are many small and big hotels to choose from in Patong, as expected of a tourist hot spot, but we decided to stay in Burasari because it's walking distance to almost everything.
There are also many choices when it comes to restaurants but if you want our recommendation then head to Sea Hag Thaifood and Seafood for local dishes and for a more dress up kind of meal there's Sam's Steak and Grill at Holiday Inn. Don't forget to try the street food too. It's the best cure to a hangover. You definitely have to check out nightlife along Bangla Road and on the afternoons you can enjoy a bottle or two while watching sports in one of the bars. There's also Jung Ceylon for most of your other needs. It's a big mall with many restaurants, fashion retail outlets
and a supermarket.
