Off the Mall Eats: Refinery and Kitchen 1B
One of our favorite spots anywhere are off the mall joints. These places are quite near where the action is but also far enough if you want to be away from it all. We recently discovered two of those that were still on soft opening when we visited but still delivered exceptionally well.
Refinery in Rockwell (ground floor of Joya) is in a corner we used to linger in often even when it was still occupied by a local coffee shop brand. We visited it on weekend for a brunch and was quite happy with the "upgrade" because our little corner just became brighter, bigger and with best sellers like Hangover Pasta, Double Truffle Fries and Shirred Truffled Eggs we imagine ourselves staying there forever.

Kitchen 1B is located along Gamboa.
The easiest direction would be to get out of Greenbelt 1 Main Entrance and just walk along Gamboa until you'll find it. One thing about off the mall eats is that since it takes quite a bit of an effort to get to it, it rarely gets that full easily.
As certified fans of their sister restaurant Apartment 1B, we cannot help but hopefully expect for only good food to come out of this kitchen. We weren't disappointed because the vegetable & shrimp rolls and grilled mango chicken were both really good. We ended lunch with a scoop of our choice of Carmen's Best ice cream.
