In just one rainy day, my three friends and I were able to visit three places to eat. That’s how much we love food.
For early lunch, we went to Kanzhu (Ground Floor of Citispace Building along Jose Abad Santos Stree in San Juan) for some hand-pulled noodles. With the ramen craze, it’s nice to also go to the old favorites when it comes to noodles. Seeing how the noodles were made was fun. I can now really say that yes, the noodles are indeed hand-pulled and after witnessing how it’s done I can also that it take skill to do it. We were quite hungry when we arrived and so we appreciated the quick serving of our orders. The warmth of the soup was perfect for the weather and the noodles weren’t soggy at all. Even their siopao was good too because my friend finished all three pieces on her own ;)
After going around Mandaluyong and Ortigas, we decided to look for Subspace Coffee House (Ground Floor of Grand Emerald Tower along Emerald Street in Ortigas) to get some dessert and hot drinks still meant to chase away the cool weather that now turned into a heavy downpour. We spotted the small nook in one of the quiet parts of Ortigas and it was even less busy because it was a Saturday. We ordered cakes, coffee and tea as we soaked in the K-pop vibe of the place throughout our more than two hours of conversation. There was nothing to throw away from what we tried, must be why even with the nasty weather patrons still trickled in and out the whole afternoon.
Dinner was Korean at another usual and popular choice called Ye Dang (Meralco Avenue near Metrowalk in Ortigas). Being a regular, one of our friends warned that we should be there by six in the evening when the restaurant opens because it gets full really fast. She wasn’t kidding. We did get seats as we were early but soon after all the tables were already taken. As we were eating our orders, we understood why everyone seems to love the place. The meat in all of our orders was tender and the side dishes really aplenty and gets refilled fast too.
After all of that, it is safe to say that it was another successful weekend food trip for my friends and me.
