Exploring San Juan
We always try our best to venture out into other areas for food finds. Although we rarely get to do that, what matters is that when we do it is always worth it. We decided to check out two of the newest establishments in the San Juan area.
First stop was CO/OP located along A. Mabini Street. Our first impression was that it's huge from the outside but upon entering you actually appreciate that even during a busy Sunday afternoon you get enough private space. There's actually still a lot of room for more tables and more merchandise. Yes, merchandise.
CO/OP is a one stop shop for those who like to shop and eat. While waiting four our cake and sandwich, we examined the knick-knacks lying around on tables and open shelves. We actually had to stop ourselves from purchasing the cool things being offered. This concept has so much promise and we look forward to coming back and seeing what more they will do with it. Hopefully they will offer more affordable food and non-food items in the future because our meal certainly wasn't cheap.
Not very far from A. Mabini is our second stop. Located at the 2nd floor of Metropointe Center along P. Guevarra is Backyard Coffee. We like how it is just the right size for a quiet Sunday afternoon conversation. We were lucky to be in at a time when all the other patrons are three tables filled with students studying, reading a book and working on their laptops. This is certainly so much better than the sometimes already distracting noise in a Starbucks. More importantly they really serve good coffee. The Flat White, we looked it up and apparently it takes extra skill to come up with something flat when it comes to coffee, was easy on the throat. The Cappuccino went to a non-coffee drinker and just like that the person was converted and we've had her sip our cup every now and then but this was the only cup she finished and with a two thumbs up rating.
So if you live in the area, or willing to drive by for a visit, make sure to pop in at CO/OP and Backyard Coffee. Be prepared to have a wonderful time.
