Cheesecakes by Guy:
Best Cheesecake in Town
It’s time to get cheesy on the cakes! But I don’t mean that in a
corny-romantic way—more like cheesy-uber-yummy! Most of us fancy desserts paired with the right drink, either a sweet wine after dinner or
with coffee or tea during other times of the day. Whichever way you like
it, the desserts are always something we look forward to. And since
I have found one of the best cheesecakes this side of town, I would like
to share this delightful piece of heaven on BBR Recommends.
I met Gregory Leung Guy way back, before he even decided to finish
his Culinary Studies in Paris. And it was a lucky day for me when
I found out my friend was planning to be a Chef! He not only makes
fantastic desserts, he also cooks gastronomic fares that would light up
anyone’s appetite! In this shor but very sweet interview, he gives us
a brief explanation on his cheesecake fetish, and why his desserts
are uniquely his own.
There's a lot of cheesecake out there,
what makes your cheesecake
different?
Most of the cheesecakes out in the
market now are New York Style
cheesecakes and those cakes are dense
and can be a mouthful. Mine are simply
baked cheesecakes, and not as dense
and easier to eat (more). Mine are also
made fresh when the order comes, never
frozen or kept for too long before handed
over to the customer.
What flavors are you offering now? What is the best seller?
My main product are my cheesecakes and they come in lemon, Oreo,
coffee, caramel and classic. I also sell premium flavors green tea made
with bitter matcha from Japan, and vanilla bean made with real vanilla
beans. Best sellers are my lemon and green tea. I have also started
selling cheesecake layered cakes and they come in chocolate and
red
velvet. I’m launching an apple walnut with caramel frosting soon.
Describe in 3 words
your cheesecake.
Sinful, Velvety, and Yummy!
There are many people who are concerned about organic ingredients and also calorie intake and vegetarians.
Any info about your cheesecake in relation to this?
I do not offer vegan or sugar free versions as of the moment. I’ve tried using sugar substitutes for diabetic people but
the result is never as good when made with real sugar. I suggest people to simply eat less, rather than use low fat
ingredients or substitutes. One great bite is all you need!
Are you providing cheesecakes to any hotels or
restaurants in Manila?
I am currently providing cheesecakes to 2 restaurants
and it has kept me busy. I am currently waiting for a
local chain to place in their first order.
So, if you need a bit of that sugar rush on the cheesy side,
Chef Gregory Leung Guy,will definitely win your hearts over for his
superb home-made Cheesecakes. I have ordered quite a lot already
and I still have not gotten over it! My personal favorite is his Chocolate
Frosted Cheesecake —TDF! (To-die-for!) For more information on how
to order these delish desserts you can contact Chef Gregory Leung Guy
